Now working part-time as a catering assistant, this student seeks to improve his chances at earning a livelihood by pursuing a diploma course in medical laboratory technology. He lost his parents when he was young. Both the student and his sister live with their paternal aunt. They were studying with the help of relatives but recently the family has had to face a tough time after the death of their uncle. They live in a basic shelter with asbestos sheeting for a roof. The student hopes that after his studies, he will be able to support the family. Aalayam will raise funds of Rs. 15,000 towards the second-year course fee.
